Paul Taylor Winter Intensive

We are excited to announce this year’s Paul Taylor Winter Intensive. This Intensive will immerse students in Taylor Modern classes and repertory, as well as participation in a creative process with guest teacher/choreographer Omar Román de Jesús. In addition, students will gain a deeper understanding of Paul Taylor’s work through discussion, video viewings, and Q&A sessions. Studying “classic” Taylor while being part of a creation will allow students to become conscious of their role in the evolution of the artform.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Summer Intensives are offered throughout the country. Dates for the 2022 Summer Intensive will be announced in Spring of 2022.

Every year, The Taylor School hosts numerous intensives throughout the United States, led by current Taylor dancers, alumni, and guest artists. Students engage in accelerated learning, as months of training are condensed into weeks of in-depth study. The focus is on the teaching of Paul Taylor’s repertory, along with the technical classes which support the understanding and execution of the works. In addition to these classes, students engage in cross-training in other modalities to enhance skills and artistic growth.

Students also attend lectures and view video and oral histories, adding historical and cultural contexts to their work. The curriculum also includes a creative component, which may include dance making, composition, filmmaking or having a non-Taylor, guest choreographer create a work on the students.

Both winter and summer Intensives are held at the Taylor studios in New York.

Summer Intensives are offered throughout the country.
