Taylor Dance East
Fall Semester: September 15, 2025 – January 27, 2026

Spring Semester Registration is Open!
Join our semester-long Youth Program for toddlers to teens of all levels. With our Taylor curriculum, students progress through each level as they gain physical skills, spatial awareness, musicality, and an understanding of the Taylor technique with broad understanding of modern dance. We are now offering addition genres and styles of dance. Scroll below for detailed class information in Breaking/Hip Hop, Ballet, Tumbling/Acro and new class added, Jazz, Capoeira and Stretch and Strengthen!

Dancers, ages 14–18, who want to follow a preprofessional track with performing opportunities can audition to join the Taylor Teen Ensemble.
Offering Free Trial Classes: Fill out the Trial Class Form and you will receive a confirmation from the Taylor School.

Taylor Dance East

Taylor Tots Program
(Ages 2+)
At this age, the focus is primarily on the joy of movement. Through rhythm games, songs, and creative movement young children learn the fundamentals of dance in a shared classroom experience.
Session 1 (8 Weeks)
$240 for returning students | $260 for new students
Session 2 (7 Weeks)
$220 for returning students | $240 for new students

Taylor Tots (ages 2-3 with a caregiver)
Monday from 9:00-9:45 a.m
Saturday from 9:00-9:45 a.m.
Taylor Tots + (ages 3+ without a caregiver)

Taylor Level 1
(Ages 4–5)
Through creative movement games, Level 1 students discover their innate love for movement in a nurturing environment. With a primary focus on expression of their individual voice, basic dance exercises are introduced to build the early foundations of technique.

Taylor Level 2
(Ages 6-7)
Students in Level 2 focus on increasing strength, flexibility, and coordination by learning Paul Taylor’s movement vocabulary and incorporating it into their own creative movement explorations. They are further challenged to refine complex dance movements and retain longer choreographic phrases.
Tuesday from 4:00–5:00 p.m.
Thursday from 3:30–4:30 p.m.
Saturday from 11:00–12:00 p.m.

Taylor Level 3
(Ages 8-9)
Students are further challenged to refine complex dance movements and retain longer phrases. They are introduced to more technical elements of modern dance floor work and Mr. Taylor’s choreographic style while encouraged to make individual creative movement choices as beginning dance makers.
Wednesday from 4:30–5:30 p.m.
Thursday from 4:30–5:30 p.m.
Saturday from 11:00-12:00 p.m.

Taylor Level 4
(Ages 10-12)
This level is geared towards middle schoolers. Students are taught longer choreographic phrases, that are more complex both physically and rhythmically. More formalized dance vocabulary and exercises are practiced, preparing students to be able recognize and execute basic modern dance technique. At this age more than one class per week is highly recommended.
Thursday from 5:30-6:45 p.m.
Saturday from 12:00-1:15 p.m.

Taylor Teen
(Ages 13–18)
These classes, for high school students, offers a path to pre-professional level modern dance training, encouraging artistic expression and the emergence of the individual artistic voice. Taylor repertory is practiced and analyzed to develop greater refinement and nuance. Students are encouraged to take greater artistic risks.
Taking two or more classes per week is highly encouraged at this level. Additional Intermediate and Advanced Taylor Teen classes, as well as ballet are offered at Taylor Dance West, our Midtown location. To view the Taylor Dance West class schedule, click here.
ADVANCE TAYLOR TEEN
(Students must have taken Int. Taylor Teen or equivalent experience)
Saturday from 12:00–1:30 p.m.
$470/semester for returning students | $495/semester for new students

Ballet
(Ages 6–13)
This class is designed for students who want to study ballet to enhance their technical dance training. Taking Ballet in addition to Taylor Modern classes is highly encouraged.
Monday from 4:30–5:30 p.m. — Level 2/3 (6-8)
Wednesday from 5:30–6:30 p.m. — Level 4 (ages 10-13)

Breaking/Hip-Hop Fusion
(Ages 6–13)
This class will explore many different styles within the hip-hop genre and students will be encouraged to find their voice through choreography and freestyle games. Classes will focus on litefeet, step, locking, waving, popping, grooves, and breaking. Students will explore the authentic history and expression of hip-hop in a safe and exciting environment.

Tuesday from 5:00— 6:00 p.m. Level 4 (Ages 10-13)

Tumbling & Acro
(Ages 4-18)
In this class students will explore inverted movements such as forward rolls, cartwheeling, handstands etc., will learn basic partnering skills, and will explore choreography through prompts, both on their own and in collaboration with others. Students will learn body awareness and control as well as how to support and be supported by their classmates.
Saturday from 10:00—11:00 a.m. – Tumbling Level 1/2 (Ages 4-7)
Monday from 3:30—4:30 p.m. – Tumbling Level 2 (Ages 6-7)
Wednesday from 5:00—6:00 p.m. – Tumbling Level 4 (Ages 10-13)

New Classes This Spring!
Jazz, Capoeira, Stretch & Conditioning!
Jazz
(Ages 8–13)
Jazz dance, an American art, incorporates ballet, modern and street styles of dance with an emphasis on rhythm. Students will learn the foundations of Giordano Jazz, that include basic jazz isolation, syncopation, technique and tools for improvisation.
Tuesday 5:00-6:00 pm
All tuition and fees are nonrefundable.
Capoeira
(Ages 8–13)
Capoeira combines martial arts, dance, music, and Afro-Brazilian culture into a powerful, full-body experience. Students will learn basics and fundamental movements such as ginga, kicks, escapes, and into to acrobatics, as well as rhythm, coordination, and flow.
This class offers physical challenge, cultural immersion, and creative expression through movement and music.
Wednesday 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Stretch & Conditioning
(Ages 7–13)
This class is for students looking to develop more flexibility and strength as a mover. Students in this class will follow along in a cardio section to increase heartrate, learn about alignment to increase stability and strength, and understand proper techniques for stretching.

Taylor Teen Ensemble
(By Audition Only)
The Taylor Teen Ensemble offers teenagers an opportunity to learn more about Mr. Taylor’s work through the performance of excerpts of his diverse repertory.
